Conference in Trenčín on disinformation and communication in a divided society.

On March 14, 2026, the conference „Flat Earth Special“: Between fact and belief was held in Trenčín. The event dealt with the issue of toxic content spread in Slovakia and Central Europe with the intention of strengthening the influence of foreign authoritarian forces and states hostile to democracy and a free society. 

Experts from Slovakia and the Czech Republic participated in the conference. IVO was represented by Grigorij Mesežnikov. 

The topics of the individual expert panels included social networks and their algorithms, hoaxes and disinformation in the context of a crisis of trust, manifestations of radicalization and foreign propaganda, methods of communication revealing the toxic content.

Grigorij Mesežnikov spoke at the conference with a contribution on hybrid threats and increasing the resilience of democratic society against them.
