Freedom and Democracy: Slovakia 1989 – 2026

On November 12, 2025, IVO president Grigorij Mesežnikov and professor Juraj Buzalka from the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of Comenius University debated at the headquarters of Accenture Slovakia about significance of the democratic revolution of November 1989 for the subsequent development in the country, on the value of freedom for the individual and society, on changes and inertia in the country, on trust between people, on why democracy and freedom should be protected and defended, and on challenges for democracy in the world, in Europe and in Slovakia.

The discussion, moderated by Monika Smolová (People and Client Comms, Accenture Slovakia), was followed online and in person by 350 company employees, many of whom actively participated in the discussion.
