On September 25, 2025, a public discussion Never Again Is Now was held in the Historical Hall of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (UPJŠ) in Košice on the occasion of the Holocaust’s and Racial Violence’s Victims Remembrance Day. The event was co-organized by the Carpathian Platform and the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ.
The event was opened with musical compositions by students of the Petr Dvorský Conservatory in Košice. Opening speeches were given by Rostyslav Pyliaiev, Chairman of the Carpathian Platform, and Professor Renáta Panocová, Dean of the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ.

The speakers at the debate included Martin Korčok (director of the Holocaust Museum in Sereď), Rabbi Misha Kapustin (Central Union of Jewish Religious Communities of the Slovak Republic), Peter Borza (historian and Greek Catholic priest, Department of History, UPJŠ, Košice) and Grigorij Mesežnikov (IVO). The discussion was moderated by Viktória Švigárová (Department of History, UPJŠ, Košice).
The participants of the debate characterized the unique character of the Holocaust and the role of the ideology of Nazism and fascism in the committing this terrible crime. They pointed out the historical roots of anti-Jewish expressions, the various forms of anti-Semitism in the past and present, and the destructive impacts of intolerant collectivist ideas on the coexistence of people with different ethnic and religious characteristics. They also paid attention to the growing anti-Semitism in the world, the efforts of certain political forces to normalize anti-Jewish sentiments and expressions, and to transform anti-Semitism into a part of the socio-political mainstream of Western states after the attack by the Palestinian terrorist movement Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The discussion then focused on current challenges related to the rejection of anti-Semitism and other forms of racism and racial hatred, and on the important role of education in shaping the conditions for peaceful citizens’ coexistence.
