Round table in Belgrade

In Belgrade on 2–3 April, 2025  IVO president Grigorij Mesežnikov took part at the roundtable discussion organised by the Vienna-based Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) in the framework of the project „Central Europe and Future EU Enlargement“. Discussion was focused on challenges of EU enlargement for Serbia and brought think-tankers from Austria, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine together with local experts on Serbian foreign, domestic and environmental policy.

The first session focused on Serbia’s multi-vector foreign policy, its relations with Kosovo and the recent signing of the strategic dialogue between the US and Serbia. The second session explored the internal political and institutional challenges Serbia faces in meeting EU membership criteria as well as the necessary reforms outlined in the Reform Agenda. The third session examined Serbia’s role in the EU’s supply chain, its industrial competitiveness, and the environmental challenges linked to resource extraction. Finally, project partners gathered to discuss what role Central Europe can play in supporting Serbia’s EU integration.

The project „Central Europe and Future EU Enlargement“ is supported by the International Visegrad Fund.
