In the framework of the project “Mapping the Characteristics and Methods of Russian, Chinese and Turkish Authoritarian Influence in the V3”, analysts Patrik Szicherle and Péter Krekó from the think-tank Political Capital, Budapest, in cooperation with Slovak analyst Grigorij Mesežnikov from the Institute for Public Affairs (IVO) and Czech analysts Jonáš Syrovátka and Jakub Merc from the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI) dealt with the issue of how the authoritarian influence of selected powers (Russia, China and Turkey) manifests itself in three states – Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic in these countries. The authors of the study “Doors Wide Shut” also examined how the external authoritarian influence affects the relations of three Central European countries with their allies. 

In the preparation of the study, interviews were conducted with local experts on Russia, China and Turkey, and monitoring was carried out on how authoritarian regimes appear in the Hungarian, Slovak and Czech media space in the context of important domestic and international events.
