Poprad's discussion forum on peace in Europe

On the 17th of June 2015, Grigorij Mesežnikov participated in the discussion forum ‘The Threat to Peace in Europe’, held in Poprad. He discussed with the local citizens the impact of the current situation in Ukraine on the economic and political developments in the EU countries.

The event took place as a part of the annually organised festival ‘Viva Italia’, which is made up of cultural-artistic and social activities. The city of Poprad and the civic organization ‘For the City (Poprad)’ are the organizers of the festival.

In the discussion, the president of IVO touched upon the causes of the military conflict in Ukraine, the policy of the current Russian leadership towards the West, relations between the EU and the Russian Federation, the impact of the EU sanctions and the impacts of the ‘counter-sanctions of Russia’ on the economy of Slovakia and Italy. The event was opened by Fabio Bartolini, vice-chairman of the organization For the City (Poprad) and the main organizer of the annual festival ‘Viva Italia’.

The discussion was moderated by Marián Galajda, a spokesman for the city Poprad.
