About electoral law in Slovakia

Grigorij Mesežnikov and Oľga Gyárfášová participated on a panel discussion How electoral system effects political and social reality? The debate took place on October 30, and has been organized by political party Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), in Bratislava. In addition to IVO experts the discussants were: political scientists Peter Spáč (Masaryk University in Brno) and Vladimír Dančišin (Prešov University) and politicians Richard Sulík (SaS), Lucia Žitňanská (SDKÚ-DS) and Radoslav Procházka (independent MP, association Alfa). Discussion was moderated by Martin Dubéci.

Broad range of topics were discussed: specifics of electoral systems, legal and political context of elections rules amendments, the formula for transferring votes to mandates, impact of electoral districts on overall results of elections and political representation, the weight of preferential votes and regulations of electoral campaigns.
