On 22 February 2012, Martin Bútora, Oľga Gyárfášová and Grigorij Mesežnikov participated in the discussions with citizens of Komárno about socio-political situation in Slovakia before the March parliamentary elections.
The event was held in cooperation with the Kempelen Institute (Komárno) within the IVO project, supported by the Open Society Foundation (OSF). The discussion was moderated by political scientist Zoltan Bara. IVO experts evaluated the state and quality of the activity of democratic institutions in Slovakia, the level of civic participation, the issue of ethnic relations and the pre-election dynamics of the public opinion.
Participants were also concerned about some other issues related to the ongoing election campaign and the activities of candidates for political parties.
