On 5th of October 2011 in Hainburg, in Kulturfabrik, the Slovak-Austrian conference on regional cooperation, whit participation of IVO president Grigorij Mesežnikov, was held. His introductory contribution explained the broader context of Slovak-Austrian bilateral relations in the past two decades. Among the speakers of the panel on the development of regional cooperation there were Ján Čarnogurský Ján, former Slovakia’s prime minister and minister of justice, Werner Fasslabend, a former defense minister of Austria, the current President of the Austrian-Slovak Society and the head of Political Academy and Anton Heiden, representative of Raiffeisenlandesbank. The debate was chaired by Austrian journalist and publicist Kristian Thanei.
The conference was organized by the Vienna Institute for the Danube region and Central Europe (IDM), Renner Institute, Centre for Political Studies, Oesterreichishe Slowakische-Gesellschaft and Politische Academy.
