Language competence of Slovak population: German language in comparison with other languages

Objective: The main purpose of the project is to study the language competence of the Slovak population, with a special emphasis on the German language proficiency in comparison with other foreign languages (English, Russian, French, Spanish and Italian). A representative survey will be conducted on a sample of respondents aged 15+, using the method of standardized face-to-face interviews. The data will give information about the distribution of language skills in various social groups; factors increasing or limiting people’s motivation and chance to learn foreign languages, public perception of the importance of the knowledge of German, English and other languages.

Outputs: Research study, press conference, presentation of research findings at the German-Slovak Economic Forum and other conferences
