PM Fico: IVO survey aimed to help opposition parties

Source: The Slovak Spectator web page, 31.7.2009

Prime Minister Robert Fico responded on Thursday, July 30 to the TASR newswire that the IVO (Institute for Public Affairs) survey on the degree of corruption as perceived by Slovakia's public is absolutely untrustworthy.

The Prime Minister said that IVO, which he characterised as “in the opposition ideological headquarters”, has shown again that its goal is to serve the interests of the desperate centre-right parties of the opposition.

The Prime Minister also claimed that IVO manipulated the public opinion in its survey based on its methodology and the fact that the institute didn't carry out any such survey in the past. The Prime Minister charged that the survey was aimed at helping the opposition vis-á-vis the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2010.
