Objective: To increase public awareness about the importance of democratic elections; to encourage voter participation in parliamentary and local elections; and to offer an analytical view of the electoral process and the election results.
Outputs: The project has nine outputs – six publications and three films.
Publication: "The 1998 Elections – A Path for Slovakia". An informative brochure aimed at encouraging citizen participation in the elections. Published in Slovak language under the title "Voľby 1998 – Cesta pre Slovensko". (Presently not available).
Publication: The 1998 Elections. Analysis of Platforms of Political Parties and Movements. The publication contains an analysis of the platforms of the political parties that are running in the 1998 parliamentary elections. Emphasis is placed on the following areas: rule of law, economy, social policies, public administration, national and ethnic minority policy, and foreign policy and defense. It is available in the Slovak language only.
Publication: Value Orientations in Slovakia – Group Profiles: An analysis of the socio-cultural implications of the political preferences and voting behavior of the citizens of the Slovak Republic. It is available in the Slovak language only.
Publication: Slovak Elections '98. Who? Why? How?. A complex analysis of the electoral process and the results of the 1998 elections to the National Council of the Slovak Republic. The publication contains 22 chapters from 24 authors and focuses on the following areas: the legislation regarding the electoral process, the system of political parties, main trends of the political development, public opinion, activities of non-party players, the election campaign, political communication, the influences behind the voting patterns, international context of the elections, as well as other issues and topics. An English language version was published under the title: The 1998 Parliamentary Elections and Democratic Rebirth in Slovakia.
Publication: What Do the Election Results Reveal? Parliamentary Elections 1992 – 1998. A comparative analysis of the results of the Parliamentary elections in Slovakia. It is available in the Slovak language only.
A documentary film about the electoral behavior of young people titled "If You Do Not Like It, Do Not Go". The film was aired by several regional and local TV stations.
A documentary film titled "Elections in Slovakia" about the meaning of the democratic elections. It was prepared in cooperation with a Studio of Regional Media Reporters. The film was aired by 16 regional and local TV stations.
The documentary film Local Administration Without an Invitation is about local democracy in Slovakia. The film was aired by the state-run station STV in December 1998. It is available in the Slovak language only.
