The publication is an output of the project called Promoting the Policy of Reforms in Slovakia that was implemented by the Institute for Public Affairs in cooperation with the International Republican Institute (IRI). The basic goal of the book is to analyze crucial aspects of Slovak political parties’ performance, their role in the process of society transformation, preferred methods of political mobilization of their supporters, ways of their mutual interaction as well as their interaction with other institutions of the country’s political system. The authors of particular chapters render an erudite perspective of the party government issue in Slovakia in the context of the current state of representative democracy. In doing so, they present the reader with a unique collection of analyses examining the party system and the performance of political parties that largely determine the shape of public policy in Slovakia.
