Annotation
Slovakia 2003 – Global Report on the State of Society is 8th annual continuation of a series of analytical yearbooks which the Institute for Public Affairs has been publishing since its founding in 1997. As in the previous year, the editors of this work Miroslav Kollár and Grigorij Mesežnikov, along with other fifty authors have undertaken a task to diagnose the state of society and identify possibilities of positive developments in several areas of public life. Thirty chapters of Global Report are divided into four thematic parts: domestic politics, foreign policy, economy, and society. The quality of the work is supported by the fact that analyses it contains traditionally become the basis for elaboration of reform strategies in various areas of public policy. The Global Report is also the most-cited source of analytical information on Slovak society and its developments. In 2003, as in previous years, the Global Report remains the product that embodies cooperation of experts from various think tanks, non-governmental nonprofit organizations, academic institutions and universities striving for an independent and critical social analysis.
