The 2019 European elections in Slovakia: context and results

Project team: Oľga Gyárfášová, Grigorij Mesežnikov, Zora Bútorová, Ján Bartoš, Alena Adamková, Jozef Zagrapan (SÚ SAV). 

Objective:  The aim of the project is to map the course and the results of elections to the European Parliament in the Slovak Republic (May 25, 2019) and to present them to a wider public in the form of a compact analytical publication. 

Within the project, the analysis focuses on: 

- the activities of the running  political parties (creation and presentation of the programs points, including the presentation of the European agenda and the approach of individual parties to European integration issues and to common European policies, election campaign mobilization activities, results achieved), 

- public opinion dynamics on the issues related to society’s development,  the relationship with the EU, opinions on European integration, support for EU membership in the SR, trust to the EU institutions, etc., which play an important role in the electoral behavior of citizens as well as in the overall political setting and civic participation, 

- the wider context of citizens' voting (based on available electoral statistics).
