Active Citizenship and Nongovernmental Sector in Slovakia. Trends and Perspectives

Objective: To document and reflect upon the development of non-governmental sector in Slovakia and its impact on the civic society since 1989, with a particular emphasis on the period of 2006 – 2010. To provide an overview of particular phases in this development and to summarize the gains of the NGO sector, as well as its weak sides. To outline alternative trends in the future development of the sector. To show the opportunities for reaching a synergic effect in solving social issues; to outline topics and fields of NGO activities that are worth of support.
