Institute for Public Affairs (IVO) has issued a CD titled e-Governance in Slovakia 2006-2008 summarizing the results of the project aimed at mapping out the processes of implementation of modern electronic approaches to governance. This CD is part of a broader project titled Launching e-Governance in Slovakia: Empowering Citizens to Participate, Influence and Exercise Democratic Control supported by the Trust for Civil Society in Central & Eastern Europe.
The project aimed to stimulate public and expert discourse by:
- Providing empirical data; Improving the citizens’ awareness about online services for exercising their rights;
- Deepening capabilities of civil society actors to use information technologies for promotion of open society principles in public life;
- Generating pressure on the public administration to implement information and communication technologies with regards to citizens’ rights;
- Increasing interest of NGOs and other civil society actors to participate on development of e-Governance.
The CD offers several key studies and analyses – the result of an empirical research project, two years running. The effort draws on the expertise accumulated from various discussion fora, congresses and seminars, as well as consultations with experts from governmental, non-governmental and the corporate sector.
The CD (in Slovak language with English summary) is available free of charge at the seat of IVO, located at Baštová 5 in Bratislava.
