Annotation

The documentary film “Hey You Slovaks” is a work about poverty, the shock of capitalism, and Slovakia’s return to Europe. It is a mosaic of stories from various parts of Slovakia that reflect the director’s take on the variety of factors lying behind people’s life motivations. The author attempts to capture people’s definitions of a desirable existence, and the type of lifestyle they nurture in their dreams. The film’s main focus is on the issue of poverty and the exploration of the many ways that this phenomenon is manifested. Thus, the film is a reflection of the world, and the current state of affairs. It attempts to convey the message that the perception of poverty is often caused by the individual’s inability to step out of the “closed circle”.
