Annotation
The publication authored by Alexander Duleba and Karel Hirman “Russia at the End of Jelcin’s Era” analyses the foreign-political direction and domestic politics of the Russian Federation after the collapse of the Soviet Union. It finds certain links between the main streams of pre-Soviet Russian societal and political thought and the positions of key representatives of the current political establishment. The publication analyses the state of the Russian political scene during the term of President Jelcin. The authors focus on the relations and policies of Russia toward the countries of central Europe, mainly in the context of NATO enlargement and the crisis in Yugoslavia. They further analyze the situation on the eve of the parliamentary and presidential elections, as well as the role that Russian relations played in Slovak foreign policy during the 1990s.
