Annotation 

The publication is comprehensive analysis released shortly after the first year of Slovakia’s EU and NATO full-fledged membership. It consists of three analytical studies. Vladimír Bilčík concentrates on evaluation of Slovakia’s policy priorities in the EU playground. Study Slovakia´s First Year of EU and NATO Membership (authors Oľga Gyárfášová, Zora Bútorová and Marián Velšic) is based on topical public opinion surveys examines how the Slovak public perceives different aspects of EU and NATO membership. Finally, the contribution Economic Elite’s Assessments of the Business Climate in Slovakia One Year After the Accession (authors: Marek Šťastný and Barbora Gábelová-Jančiová) focuses on mapping out the trends in the economy, the various indices and indicators, as well as friction areas between the new and old EU members in terms of economic policies in the enlarged EU. The brunt of the study contains views of top-managers of transnational corporations in Slovakia about the business climate in Slovakia and various factors that influence it.
