About Slovakia with the new president

On 12 June 2016, Grigorij Mesežnikov lectured in Bratislava at the GT Cocktail event organized by Grant Thornton for its staffers and partners. In his key note address “Slovakia after the presidential election - will we live in the better world?” IVO president IVO put the current events in internal political development of the country into a broader historical context (the fate of Slovakia in the 20th century, the story of democratic transformation and the building of an independent state, the fight against authoritarian tendencies, participation in European integration and transatlantic partnership). He characterized the main elements of the new political dynamism that has taken place in Slovakia after March 2018 which have since been reflected in the results of several elections (municipal, presidential, European), important changes on the political scene that reconfigure the party system.

Grigorij Mesežnikov also evaluated the factors of success of Zuzana Čaputová in the elections of the head of the state in March 2019 and outlined the perspective framework of her performance in the highest constitutional position in terms of the priorities she has presented.

In the further panel discussion, IVO president and two members of the newly elected President’s team – Radovan Pala and Veronika Gulášová – discussed other issues related to activities of Zuzana Čaputová after her inauguration on 15 May 2019. The discussion was introduced and moderated by Silvia Hallová.
