Discussion about year 2018 in Blue Salon of the Slovak National Theater
On December 18, 2018, Grigorij Mesežnikov took part in discussion program of drama department of the Slovak National Theater (SND) Slovak Eighth Years devoted to the key “eighth” years of 20th and 21st centuries. The event took place in Blue Salon in the new building of the SND and was devoted to the events of the year 2018. Juraj Šeliga (co-organizer of protests “For Decent Slovakia”) and Martin Strižinec (journalist) participated in the event together with IVO’s president. The discussion was moderated by Tomáš Hudák.
Participants debated on the state of the Slovak society in the context of country’s dramatic developments that followed after the murder of Ján Kuciak and Martina Kušnírová (mass civic protests, the resignation of Prime Minister Robert Fico and other members of the government, the inauguration of the new Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini, the investigation of corrupt and criminal cases, result of local elections in November 2018). They paid attention to current developments, such as the SNS’ efforts to reverse the foreign-political and security orientation of the state or the changing situation on the party scene. They tried to outline the prospects of presidential elections 2019.
