
Since January 2010 IVO is hosting British scholar and researcher Mr. Benjamin Stanley.
This position is a part of the ELECDEM: Training Network in Electoral Democracy project.
Project is funded by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development within Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN). It will bring together 11 expert teams from 9 European countries to provide substantive and methodological training in elections research.
Benjamin Stanley finished his PhD at The University of Essex, thesis title: Populism in the Polish party system: party appeals and voter mobilisation in 2009. He graduated from the same University in 2005. Among his most relevant publication we could rank the analysis “The Thin Ideology of Populism” published in Journal of Political Ideologies 13:1, pp.95 -110. During his one-year stay at the IVO Ben will work on project Integration versus Demarcation? A Comparative Classification of Party Appeals, Voter Preferences and Candidate Attitudes in the European Parliamentary Elections of 2009.
