Objective: To gain reliable representative data for the purposes of measuring the effectiveness of the British Council's activities in Slovak Republic . Further, to gain information on the positions of select groups of the Slovak population toward Great Britain and other countries, identify and define the target groups for the British Council. Quantitative and qualitative sociological research methods were applied in the project and respondents were selected based on the following criteria: sex, age, level of education attained, interest in studying foreign languages, interest in travel, culture, and politics. The research focused on issues such as: the perception of Great Britain , knowledge of, and view of other countries, the potential for utilization of services offered by the British Council, demographic analysis, and behavior of potential clients of the British Council.
